Breaking Rules

Rules are made
to be broken,
but only by those
who understand the rule
and know how to maintain
the order the rule
is meant to keep.

Rulebreaking is made obvious
by the chaos left in its wake
as people revel in breaking the rule
with no regard for the consequences
of their actions.

For rulebreaking to succeed,
it must be done carefully,
lest a mess be created
that causes more problems
than the broken rule
was meant to solve.

Breaking rules should be rare,
for any rule
that always needs breaking
shouldn’t be a rule at all.
When rules must be broken
it should be with careful consideration
to avoid making a mess
born of attempted ease.
